Google has launched a major update that will allow users to change their Gmail addresses — a much-anticipated and incredibly practical feature.

According to the official announcement, users can now change the name of their Google account (the part before @gmail.com), which is used for services like Gmail, Photos, Drive and others.

One key advantage is that your old email address will continue to work alongside your new one. This means that all messages sent to either address will arrive in your inbox, ensuring that nothing is missed. Google also guarantees that your account data — including photos, past messages, and saved emails — will remain intact.

Currently, the update is only available to users in the United States, meaning those in the United Kingdom and other countries will have to wait.

Users in the US can check if the feature has reached their account by following these steps:

Open your Google Account settings and select “Personal info”.

Add Email, then "Google Account email".

If the option to change the account email appears, select it and create a new unique name.

Google explains: “Your old address will automatically remain as an alternative, so there’s no need to worry about losing access. Just remember that you can create a new address once every 12 months.”

We hope that users in the UK will also be able to change their accounts in the future. If you're in the US, check your settings to see if the new feature is already active for you. /GazetaExpress/
