Young people of the Gen Z generation are increasingly prioritizing physical activity even during vacations.

According to a study of 2,000 people aged 18–29, about 30% of them often plan trips based on their fitness goals, while 74% have done so at least once.

In fact, one in 10 young people admit that the presence of a gym is more important to them than good weather. Also, 47% say that their exercise routine influences their vacation plans more than five years ago.

The most common activities to stay active while traveling are swimming (46%), long walks (38%), and exercising at the gym (25%).

Experts are noticing a clear shift in the way young people combine travel with an active lifestyle. Vacations are no longer seen solely as a time for relaxation and excess, but also as an opportunity to stay in shape, set new goals, and experience something different.

The top reasons why young people seek out exercise facilities during their holidays are related to mental wellbeing (33%), feeling energised (21%) and maintaining a routine (19%). Furthermore, 44% believe that running in a new place is one of the best ways to explore it.

Nearly half (45%) prioritize luggage space to bring sports equipment, while 34% choose accommodations that offer a gym. In fact, 57% are willing to pay more to have a workout space near or within the place they are staying.

Over 40% of young people have taken part in fitness-focused holidays, such as sports competitions, events or retreats, spending an average of around £335 per year on these experiences.

However, these trips do not exclude other experiences: many of them combine physical activity with sightseeing, cultural activities and personal achievements. In this way, exercise has become an element that enriches and improves the vacation experience. /GazetaExpress/
