Reports in Italy suggest that Gian Piero Gasperini is willing to stay on as Roma coach despite a difficult week and a public clash with senior advisor Claudio Ranieri, but he has set four key conditions to continue at the Stadio Olimpico for the 2026/27 season.

There has been much speculation over Gasperini's future at Roma in recent times, even though the former Atalanta coach was appointed less than a year ago.

Roma are currently in sixth place in the Serie A table and are unlikely to qualify for the Champions League next season, as Juventus are five points behind in fourth place.

Gasperini has also had a public falling out with Ranieri, who stated that the coach was not even in the club's top three candidates for the role at the end of last season.

Some reports claim that Gasperini and Ranieri were ignoring each other at the training ground earlier last week, while some Italian media outlets say the situation has now become volatile.

According to reports on Monday from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ranieri's departure from the club's structure is one of Gasperini's main conditions for remaining as Roma coach next season.

Furthermore, Gasperini is not very keen on continuing his collaboration with sporting director Ricky Massara.

According to the report, the relationship between them has never worked properly and they continue to have disagreements over transfer decisions.

Gasperini also wants more "control" over the club as a whole.

He prefers an old-style "English manager" role, with more influence over transfers and other decisions within the club, such as the appointment of medical staff - an issue he has raised frequently during the 2025/26 season.

Finally, Gasperini is seeking guarantees for the transfer market and assurances that there will be a significant budget to invest in new players, after two transfer windows that he considers disappointing./Express newspaper/
