Italian anti-mafia authorities have cracked down on a criminal group in Naples that was serving as a bridgehead for the distribution of drugs originating from Albanian criminal organizations. According to Italian media, during the operation that included investigations from 2020-2023, 14 detention measures were executed and significant quantities of cocaine were seized, documenting the staggering profits of the gang led by Vincenzo Di Lauro.

"The Carabinieri of the Naples Investigative Unit have executed a precautionary measure of detention and house arrest, issued by the preliminary investigation judge of the Court of Naples at the request of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office - Antimafia District Directorate, against 14 people suspected of various charges - for criminal conspiracy aimed at drug trafficking and possession with the aim of its distribution.

The complex and detailed investigations carried out between 2020 and 2023 by the Investigative Unit of the Carabinieri of Naples, including through targeted technical activities, and coordinated by the Anti-Mafia District Directorate of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, have allowed us to document - with serious circumstantial evidence - the existence of a subgroup linked to the "Di Lauro" criminal organization, headed by Vincenzo.

Vincenzo, who, being able to operate in the Secondigliano neighborhood, but also beyond it when necessary, managed to create a stable criminal structure designed to commit an unspecified series of crimes in violation of drug laws. to reconstruct the ways in which the gang managed – between 2019 and 2020 – to supply the city neighborhoods of Secondigliano and Vasto-Arenaccia with various quantities of narcotics, apparently originating from Albanian criminal organizations, thus illegally obtaining large sums of money.
