Today, at Kamp Film City in Pristina, the Change of Command ceremony at the KFOR Headquarters will be held. Major General of the Italian Army, Enrico Barduani, will hand over the command of KFOR to Major General of the Turkish Army, Özkan Ulutas.

Otherwise, yesterday at the KFOR headquarters, in the Film City Camp (Pristina), the symbolic inauguration of the emblem and the raising of the KFOR flag was held, to mark the continuity of the NATO-led mission in Kosovo.

This is a long-standing tradition in KFOR history. It represents a seamless transition between two KFOR commanders and demonstrates the commitment and leadership of the outgoing commander, as well as the readiness of the new commander to take on new responsibilities. It also symbolizes KFOR’s legacy and unwavering commitment to continue contributing to long-term security in Kosovo and regional stability, for the benefit of all communities.

The event took place at Sir Michael Jackson Square – recently named after the first commander of KFOR.

Major General Enrico Barduani, and Major General Özkan Ulutaş, presided over the ceremony.

KFOR is NATO's longest-running mission and currently the largest in the history of the Atlantic Alliance.

It remains fully committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo and to ensuring freedom of movement, in accordance with its long-standing mandate, based on the 1999 United Nations Security Council Resolution, and in coordination with the Kosovo Police and the EU Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo, in their respective roles as responsible for security.
