Former senior official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Albert Prenkaj, has criticized the reaction of Kosovo's ambassador to Skopje, Florian Qehaja, regarding Albanian nationalist chants during a sports match in North Macedonia.

Prenkaj said that Ambassador Qehaja should be dismissed because his reaction does not match the official position of President Omsani, who, according to him, is the voice of foreign policy.

He considers this action as "diplomatic voluntarism" and says it is sufficient to consider the ambassador's removal from the mission, as such actions damage institutional unity and signal lack of coordination with state authorities.

In a reaction, albeit late, published on the embassy's Facebook profile, Ambassador Florian Qehaja welcomes the reaction of Macedonian institutions and, as he says, the strong stance of the Albanian political factor in the Government regarding this issue.

Albert Prenkaj's full reaction:

Kosovo has no government, so the only high-ranking state institution that ambassadors should refer to is the Presidency!

According to the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, the head of Foreign Policy is the President (Article 84, paragraph 10), and in this case President Osmani-Sadriu.

According to the rule, the diplomat/ambassador implements the Foreign Policy of the government and the highest state authorities.

At a time when Kosovo is in a political impasse, meaning there is no legal and legitimate government, with CEC-certified deputies who have usurped government positions, every public official in the country, and especially diplomats, should have no doubt about which institutional reference point to refer to.

The appearance of Kosovo Ambassador Qehaja in Skopje regarding the (non-)reaction of the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Mickoski, which does not match the official statement of President Osmani-Sadriu clearly shows the deep political crisis in Kosovo. A political cacophony that is a consequence of the lack of a government and a President who has no government to coordinate. In this case, Ambassador Qehaja should coordinate with the Presidency to convey the state message of the Republic of Kosovo on the occasion of the lack of proper reaction of the Government of North Macedonia to the vulgar ultra-nationalist anti-Albanian slurs during a sports match.

These actions of the diplomat are subject to consideration for removal from the diplomatic mission as they are considered voluntarism and failure to implement state policy.

The Ambassador's departure is a sign of communication with the subnational government in the host country!
