Former Kosovo Customs employee Haxhi Blakaj has died, the institution announced, expressing condolences to his family, colleagues, friends and associates.
"With deep sadness, Kosovo Customs announces the death of our former colleague, Mr. Haxhi Blakaj. The deceased was among the most senior officials at Kosovo Customs, serving with dedication and making an extraordinary contribution to building and strengthening the Kosovo Customs institution, in important periods for the country," the Customs statement said.
"His contribution was also special in trade union organization, as co-founder and first president of the Customs Union in 2007, working continuously to protect workers' rights. With his passing, we lost a rare professional and a man of great values."
