Former UFC champion Francis Ngannou has spoken publicly about the fatal motorcycle accident in which he was involved.

Last month, it was reported in Cameroon that the former UFC star was riding a motorbike that hit and killed a young girl in the Yaoundé district. According to reports, Ngannou helped the 17-year-old get to the hospital and provided financial support during her medical treatment. However, the girl did not survive her injuries.

It is learned that the accident occurred over the Easter weekend, and according to local sources cited by the Daily Mail, the victim has been identified as Ntsama Brigitte Manuella.

Recently, Ngannou gave an official statement to TMZ Sports, where he said:

"From the beginning, I have been by the family's side, offering support, comfort and warmth during this time. I have met privately with them to share their pain and will continue to be by their side every step of the way."

Ngannou added that he could not provide further details, as the investigation into the incident is still ongoing. He said:

"I carry their pain with me and my unwavering thoughts and support remain with them as they cope with this devastating loss."

The 38-year-old Ngannou last fought in October 2024, when he debuted in the Professional Fighters League (PFL), winning by knockout in the first round against 2023 PFL champion Renan Ferreira.

Since leaving the UFC, Ngannou has also challenged big names in boxing such as Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. In April 2024, he experienced a tragic personal loss when he learned of the sudden death of his 15-month-old son, Kobe./Express newspaper/
