Former President of Albania, Alfred Moisiu, has revealed that he lives in a house built 53 years ago, even though he was the head of state of Albania for four years.
In an interview with "Off the Record", he emphasized that not only high-ranking figures, but also MPs have several houses.
"Everything is needed, desire, effort, and conflict, but corruption is just as important... I have said that I have had that house for 53 years, but it is not a bad house, but it is not contemporary. But it is no secret that not only high-ranking figures, but also every MP has a house by the sea, in the mountains and on the hills, some declared and some undeclared, and what did they do with it? We know the salaries."
The former president said that what is most worrying is the fact that officials often deny the allegations, calling them slander: "I'm trying to find a way to fix them. The worst thing is that they say they're fine and it's slander. They even make you look stupid."
Moisiu called on the new judiciary to be more careful and work on concrete documents: "If you bring out the facts, they cannot say that these things do not exist. Take the 'Partizani' group of buildings, it was land purchased by the Italians. What the documents are like, I don't know. Nothing is done without documents. Even if they are not here, they are in Italy. The archives should go and take them, shut them up," said Moisiu./A2
