In line with yesterday's statements by Prime Minister Albin Kurti and EU Special Representative Peter Sorensen, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced that it is taking all necessary measures for the full implementation of the Law on Foreigners and the Law on Vehicles.
Foreign citizens at the Dheu i Bardhë border crossing have been informed of the new measures by police officers, while from Monday, applications for residence permits or address notifications will begin at all border crossings in the country. This decision has not been welcomed by foreign citizens at the Dheu i Bardhë border crossing.
"The police informed me that they have done it for 90 days just to stay in Kosovo. It is not fair, we visit family often, we contribute to this country, I believe it is not fair," one of the interviewed citizens told RTK.
"We were informed about the new rules for cars that are not allowed to stay for more than three months. We didn't like this, what if we want to stay longer? Now I don't know if we should leave Kosovo and come back to continue our vacation. We also have Kosovo documents, but because we have a car with foreign plates, I don't think this is an additional burden," said another citizen.
And the citizens of Albania did not welcome the decision.
This registration aims to integrate birth, marriage and death data into the official Kosovo system, while foreign citizens are obliged to declare their address within three days of entering the Republic of Kosovo. The declaration can be made online or at the nearest police station. /RTK
