The Argentine Football Federation responds to UEFA for the cancellation of the 'Finalissima' between Spain, European champion, and Argentina, Latin American champion, a match that was initially scheduled to be played on March 27 in Qatar, but which will now not take place due to disagreements between the two organizations.
In a press release, the Argentine football government explained that it has always been available to hold the match on a neutral field and that holding a unique match in Madrid would violate the principle of fairness and would not be a neutral field.
'When the proposal to play on a neutral ground in Italy came on March 27, Argentina accepted the idea without any objection, except for the date, suggesting March 31.", the AFA further emphasized in its statement.
"Unfortunately UEFA announced that holding this match on March 31, 4 days later than the originally scheduled date, was not possible and thus the Finalissima was cancelled."
