Fenerbahçe chairman Sadettin Saran was released under judicial control on October 25, following his detention after a drug test came back positive.
The case comes as part of a wide-ranging investigation that has rocked the country for weeks, where television presenters, journalists, singers, actors and social media influencers have been detained on charges that include the production and trafficking of narcotics.
Saran was initially questioned on December 20 as part of the investigation and then underwent toxicology tests.
He was arrested on December 24, just hours after forensic experts discovered traces of narcotics in his hair samples.
According to the official report, cocaine was found in his hair, while blood, urine and nail tests came back negative.
His statement to authorities on December 25 reportedly lasted about two hours.
Saran was released under judicial control and will be required to report to authorities twice a week.
Fenerbahçe board member Ertan Torunoğulları, along with several fans, gathered at Çağlayan Court in Istanbul to express solidarity with Saran, under increased security measures.
Meanwhile, the club's executive board also held an extraordinary meeting.
No decisions regarding the club's direction were expected to be made at this meeting; it was described as a review of the ongoing process and possible steps, depending on future developments.
Fenerbahçe also released a statement expressing full support for Saran and assuring fans that the club's activities will continue without interruption.
