Almost two weeks after authorities declared him wanted, Gervonta Davis was detained by law enforcement in Miami.
He is accused of physical assault, unlawful confinement and attempted kidnapping, in connection with an alleged incident of violence against his ex-partner.
The arrest was made after a surveillance operation that took place over several days in three different counties.
Authorities announced that the boxer was arrested without resistance in Miami's Design District.
The charges were filed by his ex-partner, Courtney Rossel, who claims Davis physically assaulted her, deprived her of her liberty, attempted to kidnap her and intentionally caused her emotional distress.
The incident allegedly occurred on October 27, when the boxer from Baltimore allegedly attacked Rossel at her workplace after threatening her with death, reports Balkanweb.
In a press conference on January 14, Miami police described the case as a domestic violence incident and stated that investigators were working closely with federal authorities to locate and arrest Davis.
As a result of these allegations, the World Boxing Association (WBA) recently declared Davis the interim champion, stripping him of his lightweight title.
