The Basketball Federation of Kosovo (FBK) has announced that the Men's Super Cup for the 2025/26 edition will not take place. The decision was taken by the FBK Board at its meeting on September 30, 2025, and was justified by the need not to postpone the ProCredit Super League competition calendar.

"It has been decided that the Men's Super Cup for the 2025/26 edition will be cancelled and will not take place, in order to avoid prolonging the continuation of the ProCredit Super League and to ensure the development of competitions according to the planned calendar," the FBK press release states.

Start of the new edition

According to the board's decisions, the new edition of the competitions will start on October 4-5 with the first matches of the ProCredit Super League. The second round will continue on October 18-19, while in the Women's Super League, due to the electoral process and the lack of gyms, the second and third rounds will be organized in a single gym under the management of FBK.

Licensing and criteria for clubs

The FBK has relaxed some licensing criteria, accepting unnotarized player contracts, but only if they are all deposited. Otherwise, players without registered contracts will not be able to appear in the game.

Another innovation is the measure of 20 thousand euros for each category of new generations that a club in the Men's Super League does not represent. Meanwhile, for women's clubs, the obligation to represent U14 teams and one of the U16 or U18 groups has been determined.

Other innovations in organization

From the eighth round of the championship, online ticket sales will begin, while FBK will cover the expenses of officials for the new category leagues with an amount of 125 thousand euros.

In terms of judges, Ergin Balaj has moved from License C to License B for this edition.

With these decisions, FBK aims for the new edition of the competitions to take place without obstacles and with better organization, although the cancellation of the Super Cup remains the main news marking the start of the 2025/26 season.
