The Basketball Federation of Kosovo (FBK) has honored with gratitude the late Isuf Lumi, who was the first Chairman of the FBK and Secretary General.
The ceremony was organized before the match between Golden Eagle Yllit and Peja, the quarter-final of the ProCredit Super League "Play-off".
The Vice President of FBK, Fatmir Gashi, presented the Lumi family with a certificate of appreciation, a jersey with number 15 in memory of the 15th anniversary of his death, and a bouquet of flowers.
The recognition was received by Lumi's close family, feeling proud and honored by the recognition given to Isuf Lumi.
The late Isuf Lumi was the first president of the FBK after the takeover of Kosovo's sports, while after the war, for several consecutive years, he served as the Secretary General of the FBK, thus contributing maximally in all ways to the development of this sport in our country.
In 1991, he was among the initiators of the establishment of the Kosovo Basketball Federation, and in the first electoral Assembly, he was elected the First President of the Kosovo Basketball Federation.
In the first term of the foundation, Isuf Lumi very successfully led the first steps of the independent organization of the sport of basketball in Kosovo.
From 1995, Isuf Lumi continued to be part of the Federation's Board of Directors, and was at the same time a delegate at basketball matches.
Isuf Lumi continued his various functions and activities even after the end of the war, where the main battle was now FIBA membership.
Unfortunately, Isuf Lumi did not get to see the fruits of his work and the great success of FIBA membership after he passed away in 2010, while he was in his mandate as Secretary General of the FBK.
FBK will always remember his great contribution to Kosovo basketball.
