The high temperatures in the country in recent days have caused citizens to avoid the streets of Pristina, especially the parks of Gërmia and Taukbashçë during the weekend. In these parks, which were once crowded with citizens, today their corners are empty.

The lack of water in this area has also affected the closure of the Gërmia swimming pool. However, this pool will open on July 8th.

A person in charge at Taukbashçë Park, who did not want to speak on camera, said that the most frequented time of day for this park is at six in the morning or in the evening when the temperatures drop.

"It's not because the temperatures are high and it's vacation time, the students are let out, while the children were in school, they went out on weekends...00:35 is more frequented in the afternoon and in the early morning from 6:00 they start, especially pensioners who walk in the evening after it cools down, this time at noon is very little," said the official.

The CEO of Sport Marketing, which manages the Gërmia swimming pool, Bardh Krasniqi, in a written response, said that the reason for the delay in opening the pool is the lack of water and severe drought, since the pool is filled from natural sources and this year there has been a very small amount of water.

Krasniqi added that the fifth week of filling the pool has already begun, unlike last year when it took seven days. He announced that the Gërmia pool will open on July 8.

"The Gërmia swimming pool will open this Tuesday, in all likelihood. The reason for the delay is the lack of water, and the severe drought. The pool is filled from natural sources, and this year we have a very small amount of water, we are now entering the fifth week since we started filling, unlike last year, which was filled in seven days. The prices will be the same, the ones that have been in the past two years," Krasniqi said in a written response.

The high temperatures in Pristina are also a problem for the Palace of Justice, where KosovaPress reported that one person fainted. Meanwhile, it has been recommended to shorten the work and court sessions, due to the lack of air conditioning in the building.

In these scorching temperatures, the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo has appealed to citizens to be careful and stay indoors during the hottest hours of the day, especially people with chronic diseases and the elderly.

And while temperatures have reached 37 degrees this week, the Kosovo Hydrometeorological Institute has predicted that the African heat wave will continue to be present over our country for the first two days of next week, but starting Wednesday, the passage of a cool front is expected to bring a significant drop in maximum temperatures.

Maximum temperatures will range between 32-37 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures will range between 12-18 degrees Celsius.

High temperatures have also gripped countries in the region, including Albania, where the Emergency Center has about 300-350 cases per day with blackouts or problems with voltage fluctuations due to temperatures in the country. /kp
