If you drive with a winter jacket or coat in Spain, you can get a fine of up to 200 euros.

The idea of this rule is that the winter jacket restricts you when driving, that is, it restricts your movements behind the wheel.

In Spain, the same applies if you wear a scarf or gloves, Telegrafi reports.

Driving with a heavy coat can affect your ability to drive, use the gear shift and other vehicle controls, and make it impossible to wear your seat belt properly.

Although not technically illegal, dressing inappropriately while driving violates Article 18 of the General Traffic Regulations in Spain.

The general traffic rules say: "A coat that is too big or too heavy can interfere with the function of the seat belt. The driver is obliged to ensure his freedom of movement".

Driving in a winter jacket is also banned in the UK. The fine is £100 or around €120.

If the police catch you taking your jacket off while driving, the fines can be even higher – up to £5000 (around €6000).
