The Basic Court in Mitrovica, branches in Vushtrri and Skenderaj, sentenced eight people suspected of organizing pyramid schemes and illegal gambling to one month in pre-trial detention.
Of these, six people have been remanded in custody by decision of the Vushtrri Branch of the Court, while two others have been remanded in custody by decision of the Skenderaj Branch of the Court.
The Mitrovica Prosecution announced that a request for the imposition of security measures has been submitted for a total of 27 people, while hearings were held today in Mitrovica, Vushtrri and Skenderaj.
The April 18 operation was carried out by the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica in cooperation with the Kosovo Police and the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes, covering the regions of Mitrovica, Vushtrri, Istog and Skenderaj.
According to official data, during the action, 34 suspects were escorted and around 50 locations were searched, including business premises and private homes.
Also, approximately 170 thousand euros in cash, five vehicles, firearms, and other equipment suspected of being used to carry out illegal activities were seized.
By decision of the prosecutor in the case, 29 people were taken into custody, while the others were released in a regular procedure./KP
