How unhealthy is your favorite Easter egg? A new study has revealed the 10 most unhealthy desserts on supermarket shelves – and one of them has as many calories as four Big Macs!
As Easter approaches, supermarket shelves are filled with chocolate eggs, which are bought not only for children but also for adults. In the United Kingdom, an adult consumes an average of three to four whole chocolate eggs during this festive period.
An analysis conducted by experts at the digital health platform ZAVA, which examined over 40 popular products, revealed that some of these sweets contain alarming amounts of calories.
At the top of the list is the Ferrero Rocher Golden Easter Egg, with 613 calories per 100 grams. In total, a 250-gram egg comes in at 1,532 calories and contains about 103 grams of sugar – roughly 26 teaspoons. That’s over 60% of the recommended daily intake for men and nearly 77% for women.

In second place comes the Raffaello Extra Large White Chocolate Easter Egg, with 606 calories per 100 grams and about 100 grams of sugar in total – more than three times the recommended daily limit.
Three products from Waitrose make the top ten, with the heaviest being the Cracking Pistachio Easter Egg, with 602 calories per 100g. This 320g egg contains 1,926 calories and 142g of sugar – almost five times the daily limit, equivalent to around four Big Macs.
The list also includes other products such as:
Milk Chocolate & Caramelized Biscuit Flat Egg
Dark Chocolate & Nut Flat Egg
Another pistachio variant, ASDA Pistachio & Himalayan Salt White Chocolate Egg, ranks fourth with 591 calories per 100 grams and high sugar content.
The top five is rounded out by the Lindt Lindor Extra Large Dark Chocolate Easter Egg, which, although it has less sugar (25g/100g), remains very caloric - about 1,525 calories in total.
Meanwhile, calorie-counting app MyFitnessPal reveals that the most-consumed product during Easter is Cadbury Mini Eggs, with over 230 records. A 90-gram packet contains around 444 calories.
However, it's not all about calories. Some products stand out for their extreme sugar content. At the top is Toblerone Golden Edgy Egg, with 61.2 grams of sugar per 100 grams – about 40 teaspoons in a whole egg.
After him come:
Aero Peppermint Chocolate Easter Egg (60.4g sugar/100g)
Rolo Large Easter Egg (59.9g sugar/100g)
The study highlights that, although these products are part of the holiday, excessive consumption can have a significant impact on health - especially due to the high combination of calories and sugar. /GazetaExpress/
