A doctor warns that brushing your teeth at the wrong time can damage tooth enamel and gums, increasing the risk of serious oral problems.

Dr. Suraj Kukadia explains that the right time to brush your teeth in the morning is before breakfast, not after. According to him, the fluoride in toothpaste creates a protective layer that helps teeth withstand acids from foods and drinks consumed later.

He points out that if you brush your teeth immediately after breakfast, especially after acidic drinks like orange juice, the acid spreads over the surface of the teeth and can wear away the enamel, also damaging the gums.

The recommendation is clear: teeth should be brushed twice a day – before breakfast and before bed. After eating, it is better to rinse your mouth with water to remove residues and acids.

Dentist Dr. Deepa Chopra also supports this advice, adding that brushing your teeth immediately after eating can be harmful, as the enamel is temporarily softened by acids and becomes more susceptible to wear. She recommends waiting about 30 minutes after eating before brushing your teeth.

For good oral health, experts also advise brushing your teeth twice a day, cleaning between them, limiting sugar, avoiding smoking and alcohol, and regular check-ups with the dentist. /GazetaExpress/
