New details are revealed regarding the sophisticated laboratory for forging official documents, an operation carried out by Anti-Trafficking structures in Tirana.
Two people, father and son, Ylli and Pjerin Brahimaj, have been arrested in flagrante delicto, after they had built a secret room in their apartment in the Tufina area, on "Myslym Keta" street, equipped with all the tools for producing passports, identity cards, patents and property certificates, all of which are fake.
According to police sources, the entrance to the secret room was disguised inside a wardrobe and operated through an intelligent mechanism: a regular light switch and a socket, where a mobile phone charger had to be inserted to activate the door opening.
The authorities broke down the door because they were unaware of the system. Investigations revealed that Ylli Brahimaj was under house arrest, imposed by SPAK for the same criminal offenses.
However, he continued his criminal activity from inside the apartment.
As part of the investigation, a 62-year-old man, the owner of a graphic design studio not far from the Brahimajs' apartment, was also questioned, who is suspected of collaborating with them in processing photos and forms for forgery.
During the search, police seized a large amount of fake documents, mainly Greek, Italian and American, as well as suspected counterfeit money. The discovery of this laboratory constitutes key evidence for the investigations that SPAK is conducting against this group.
According to investigations, forged passports, with foreign citizenship, were sold for between 15 and 000 euros and were used to illegally cross into EU countries or even the United States of America.
