A simple test that takes just 30 seconds could show if something serious is wrong with your brain, a British doctor has claimed.

The doctor, known as 'Medifectious' on TikTok, demonstrated how to perform the test in a video that has been viewed almost 200 times.

The test involves taking one hand and rotating it quickly, over the top of the other hand, from palm side to palm side and vice versa, for a few seconds. Then, switch hands and repeat the movement.

This test aims to detect signs of a condition called dysdiadochokinesia, which is the inability to perform rapid, alternating movements.

Dysdiadochokinesia is an indication that something is not working properly in the cerebellum – the part of the brain that controls coordination. This could be due to a tumor putting pressure on brain tissue or a problem with the nerves.

A TikTok user, 'Char's TT', posted a video of her sick boyfriend unable to perform the move. She said:

"Those are the hands of my brave boyfriend who has a brain tumor."

He was diagnosed about three years ago and, because the tumor is slow-growing and the area where they live has a shortage of neurosurgeons, he has waited a very long time for surgery.

She shared the video to raise funds so he could have the operation privately - a procedure that costs approximately £30.

In his video, doctor Medifectious says:

"Everyone should be able to take this test. If you can't, maybe you should get checked."

@chars_tt Trying to stay strong while living with a brain tumor is exactly how @Leedw2022 lives. The waiting, the fear, the what-ifs... it messes with your head more than people realize. It's not just physical — the mental toll is massive. This is for anyone who has been told to "just stay positive" while fighting something invisible. You're not alone. He adds that some patients can perform the movement perfectly with one hand, but have difficulty with the other – depending on the underlying cause.

Dysdiadochokinesia can be caused by various diseases such as brain lesions – including tumors – or diseases that damage the nerves in the brain such as multiple sclerosis.

Cancerous brain tumours are the deadliest form of cancer for children and adults under 40 in Britain - claiming the lives of 5,300 people every year, around 15 a day.

But even benign tumors – which, unlike cancerous ones, do not spread – can be deadly if they grow in sensitive areas of the brain.

More than 12,000 patients in Britain are diagnosed with brain tumors each year, and around half of them are cancerous.

The most common symptoms of brain tumors include:

headache,

drowsiness,

vomiting,

vision problems,

mental or behavioral changes,

weakness on one side of the body,

and difficulty speaking.

Doctors emphasize that symptoms vary depending on the exact location of the tumor in the brain.

If you experience such symptoms – especially new, unusual, or worsening headaches – contact your family doctor immediately. /Express newspaper/
