Former President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, has stated that powerful political and security circles from Belgrade were behind the so-called "S.Ç. affair", with the aim of destabilizing Montenegro and compromising Kosovo on the eve of important political processes in the region.

In an interview for Television E, Djukanovic said that one of the main objectives of those structures was to destabilize Kosovo and damage the image of the NATO mission, KFOR.

"The goal was to compromise KFOR in Kosovo and its military command. For this purpose, 27 girls were being prepared who would approach senior KFOR military officials. Among them was S.Ç.", declared Djukanović.

According to him, Montenegrin authorities had provided information that the girls were training at the Obiliq club's stadium in Belgrade.

"Fortunately, KFOR and UNMIK managed to receive the information in time and prevent that activity," he said.

Djukanovic claims that behind these operations were Serbian military security and counterintelligence structures, linked to the politics of the time of Slobodan Milosevic and the cabinet of former Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica.

He said these circles believed that destabilizing Kosovo would slow down or hinder its international recognition.

According to Djukanovic, the "S.Ç." affair was part of a broader political and security strategy against the independence of Montenegro and against Euro-Atlantic processes in the region.
