Kosovar judoka Distria Krasniqi has completed her participation in the "Budapest 2025" World Judo Championships with a silver medal, in the up to 52 kilogram category, reaching the grand final, where she was defeated by Japanese champion, Uta Abe, with Ippon.
Distria started her way to a medal with determination, defeating Brazil's Jessica Pereira, a name with experience on the international stage, in the first round. She then dominated Francine Echevarria of Puerto Rico in the next round to secure a place in the quarterfinals..
In the quarterfinals, the Peja judoka faced Hungarian Reka Pupp, a duel that aroused a lot of interest due to the strong history between them. Distria was convincing in this match as well, securing a well-deserved place in the semifinals.
In the semifinals, Distria defeated Spaniard Ariane Toro Soler.
In the final, Krasniqi faced Japanese superstar Uta Abe, who remains one of the best judokas in the world in this category. After a cautious start from both, Abe managed to finish the match with Ippon, denying Distria the world championship title.
Despite losing in the final, Distria Krasniqi has shown once again that she remains at the top of world judo, representing Kosovo with pride and extraordinary level.
