President Donald Trump published a series of posts on social media this morning, saying that the only point that "really mattered" in the talks with the Iranians was the nuclear issue, CNN reports.
This comes after 21 hours of negotiations between the US and Iran, after which Vice President JD Vance said the two sides failed to reach an agreement.
"So there you have it, the meeting went well, most points were agreed upon, but the one point that really mattered, NUCLEAR, was not agreed upon," Trump wrote in a social media post Sunday morning.
“I could go into a lot of detail and talk about a lot of things that have been achieved, but there is only one thing that matters — IRAN IS NOT READY TO GIVE UP ITS NUCLEAR AMBITIONS! In many ways, the points that were agreed upon are better than continuing our military operations to the end, but all of these points are insignificant compared to allowing nuclear power to be in the hands of such unstable, difficult, and unpredictable people,” he said in a second post on social media.
CNN previously reported that for the US, Tehran's refusal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and give up its highly enriched uranium stockpiles were unacceptable during the talks.
