A person has lost his life after falling from a building under construction on "Remzi Hoxha" Street in Ferizaj.
The incident occurred on April 13, 2026 at around 11:45 a.m., when police received information about a person who had fallen from a building under construction.
And after this incident, the Kosovo Builders Association reacted.
"The construction sector represents one of the fundamental pillars of economic development and employment in the country, directly contributing to the transformation and modernization of the national infrastructure. In this context, workplace safety remains a non-negotiable priority that requires continuous commitment, high professional standards and effective institutional coordination."
"The loss of 7 workers during the first months of 2026 alone constitutes a serious indicator and a clear call for immediate action towards strengthening the implementation of safety standards in every workplace, without exception," the reaction states.
The Kosovo Builders Association has expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
"At the same time, we emphasize that the treatment of these cases must be based on professional, balanced analyses and free from any tendency for generalization or one-sided blaming of the sector. Builders, companies and investors are directly interested in guaranteeing safe working conditions and cannot be treated as a source of risk, but as key partners in its management and minimization," the announcement states.
The response further states that the focus should be clearly oriented towards the rigorous implementation of safety standards and the full technical and organizational preparation of each construction site, in accordance with applicable legislation and professional norms.
"Equally important is individual responsibility in the workplace. The association appeals for every worker to strictly respect safety rules and use personal protective equipment at all times, as an essential element for the protection of their life and health."
In this regard, the Kosovo Builders Association calls for intensification of direct cooperation with relevant institutions, in particular with the Labor Inspectorate, to build a common and sustainable approach that promotes real safety standards in practice.
"Our approach is clear and determined: not blame, but prevention, where protecting the lives and health of workers is an absolute priority," the response states.
Furthermore, the Construction Workers' Association emphasizes that occupational safety cannot be reduced to punitive measures; it is built on professional responsibility, proper preparation and sincere cooperation between companies, workers and institutions. /Telegrafi
