Marc Cucurella has revealed a behind-the-scenes incident that occurred during the Club World Cup, which was held in the United States of America.
The Chelsea defender spoke about the moment when US President Donald Trump presented the medals to the winning team, in this case the "Blues", who defeated Paris Saint-Germain in the final, writes "Gazeta Express".
The Spanish defender even reveals that Trump had taken a medal with him during the awards ceremony, in addition to the trophy, which FIFA president Gianni Infantino had previously given him.
"It was an experience, that's clear. He stayed there on the podium to celebrate the title with us. But, on the other hand, we said we wouldn't celebrate until he left. And, the fact is, Trump didn't want to leave. He wanted to stay there. He even got a champions' medal, which I saw in his office in the White House," the left-back told Spanish media outlet AS.
Furthermore, he also spoke about the experience at the Club World Cup, which was held for the first time in the new format, although there were difficulties, especially with the high temperatures.
"I hope things improve at the World Cup, because it was difficult to play in those conditions, with such great heat. I hope things improve next summer," the Spanish footballer further underlined.
