Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed the most expensive thing he has ever bought during a new interview with Piers Morgan.

Three years after the explosive interview that led to his departure from Manchester United in November 2022, Ronaldo has sat down again for a chat with British journalist Morgan.

Footage released ahead of the interview has hinted that the Portuguese striker will be talking about some big topics, including his rivalry with Lionel Messi and the tragic passing of national teammate Diogo Jota.

During the first part of the interview, Ronaldo spoke about his huge earnings during his career and his goal of becoming the only billionaire in football history.

In doing so, he also revealed the most expensive thing he has ever bought for himself.

In the interview, Morgan asked Ronaldo if it was true that he had become a billionaire last year and if that was one of his goals.

“Not true,” he replied. “No, I became a billionaire many years ago!”

Ronaldo added: "I know how much money I have. Not exactly, but most of it. It's like when I won the Ballon d'Or - it was one of my goals to reach that number. Becoming a billionaire was one of the MAIN GOALS I had. I am the ONLY billionaire in football. Numbers don't lie. Call it arrogance, but numbers don't lie. It doesn't surprise me that I am the only billionaire in football. When you look at all the records, Cristiano Ronaldo is always at the top of the list."

After all this discussion about finances, Morgan asked Ronaldo what the most expensive thing he had ever bought was.

He replied: "The most expensive thing? The plane. Global Express. I've had a plane for 13 years, but I changed it a year ago, so it's a little expensive."

Ronaldo explained that when he was younger he liked to have luxury cars and spend a lot of money, but now money no longer has the same importance to him.

However, he added that planes are the only exception, because he is "not a normal person" and cannot stay in airports for security reasons.

Ronaldo's comments about his huge earnings come after a report by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which tracks the world's richest people by their net worth, included Ronaldo on the list for the first time.

According to the report, which includes earnings from his career, investments and endorsement deals, Ronaldo's net worth is worth $1.4 billion (£1.04 billion).

The report claims Ronaldo earned over $550 million (£410 million) in wages while playing for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr between 2002 and 2023, with the rest of his wealth coming from endorsements and sponsorship deals./Express newspaper/
