The Vice President of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Glauk Konjufca, has stated that relations between the ruling party and former President Vjosa Osmani had begun to cool during 2024, citing her statement in Parliament as an "open blow" to the Albin Kurti Government.

Konjufca said that Osmani's speech at the end of 2024, where she criticized the government regarding relations with the US, was a reflection of the parting of ways between her and the LVV.

He added that the 2022-2023 period had been better in terms of cooperation with Osmani, but that then came the moment of "breaking".

"For her statement in December 2024, it struck me that Vjosa Osmani had made a division, for her statement [on gambling], which was an open public attack on the government and so on. It was a reflection of 2024 because 2022 - 2-23 went better in cooperation with her.... Her speech in 2024 is a reflection of what I am saying, that in fact the paths had parted, so you have to understand, what is essential in my opinion after that is that she made it known to the citizens that she is attacking the government and that she is no longer in the same opinion with the government, after that moment when it became known to the citizens that LVV won two elections, after that statement," he stated.

According to him, Prime Minister Kurti or other government officials can provide more details about relations with Osmani, if they consider it necessary for public opinion.

He added that the LVV did not see it as reasonable to support a president who, according to him, "would continue to harm the Government."

Konjufca stated that, according to him, the Vetëvendosje Movement achieved a result of 51 percent in the elections even after the "blows" it had received from Vjosa Osmani.

He said that citizens have perceived Osman's change in stance towards LVV as a political action related to her position.

According to him, such an approach does not represent long-term policy and political relationships are not built this way.

However, Konjufca said that not all the reasons for the split with Osmani will be made public, emphasizing that LVV does not use sensitive state conversations as "weapons of the election campaign."

"I don't think it's a glorious language that she chose. As for why she parted ways with him, I think they will never all come out, even though they won't all come out because, LVV has a political culture that thinks that the most sensitive conversations we have had about the state, which can often be considered classified, should be turned into weapons of the election campaign. Why give Kosovo a president who we would know with great certainty that she would attack the government in the future, until 2030 when the government is in place," Konjufca declared on Debat Plus.
