Conor McGregor has reignited his old rivalry with Khabib Nurmagomedov, attacking the Russian in a now-deleted post on the X platform (formerly Twitter).

Nurmagomedov and McGregor were once involved in a heated feud, which erupted when McGregor stormed the backstage area of Khabib's fight with Al Iaquinta at the Barclays Center in April 2018.

Former lightweight and featherweight champion McGregor threw a metal dolly at a bus carrying Khabib and his team.

The clash continued to intensify and culminated at UFC 229, where Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor by submission in a lightweight title bout.

Seven years after this duel – which remains the most watched event in UFC history on the pay-per-view system – the hatred between them has still not died down.

Recently, in an interview with Russian journalist Adam Zubayraev, Khabib took a dig at McGregor when asked about the current lightweight champion, Ilia Topuria.

“Could Ilia Topuria be the next Conor? No, he’s a good guy,” Nurmagomedov said. “You can see he’s trying to become someone.”

McGregor responded to this statement with a scathing post on X, which was later deleted.

"The biggest whore in sports is blabbering out of that fat mouth again. Slurp-slurp," the Irishman wrote.

McGregor has not fought since suffering a serious leg injury to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, but he has plans to return to the cage next year.

In an interview with The Schmo, he confirmed that he will return to the UFC's anti-doping testing program as part of preparations for a comeback in 2026.

"I'm going home, I'm going to rest, I'm going to focus. They're testing me, I'm in the system!" McGregor said.

"So get ready! And stay ready, because the damage will be done! Oval Office, White House Garden!"

The 37-year-old hopes to return to the UFC's big event planned to be held on the White House lawn in July next year, to mark the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States - an initiative announced by President Donald Trump himself. /GazetaExpress/
