Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, after returning from the US and several other visits to Europe, held a press conference on Thursday where she clarified her statements that Trump had stopped a Serbian attack on Kosovo and that this event was recent. Osmani has said that as president, she is prohibited from negotiating coalitions of political parties.
"It is not the role of any president to negotiate coalitions," Osmani said.
Speaking about citizens' questions about why she, as president, is not taking the country to elections, Osmani, with a slight smile, with a background as a lawyer, said that for such a thing to happen, certain conditions must be met, such as the dissolution of the Parliament or the failure to elect a Government within a certain deadline.
However, she explained that in the case of Kosovo, it has not yet reached such a stage, since there is not even a constituted Assembly yet.
"I want to clarify that the Constitution does not allow the President at this stage to dissolve the Assembly and take the country to elections, because there are many questions from citizens about why the President is not taking the country to elections. So, some legal criteria must be met that have not yet been met," said Osmani.
She also mentioned the 30-day deadline set by the Constitutional Court, saying she is convinced that there should be legal consequences.
