The diary of a period of time carries within itself the chronicle of life, with which man coexists with the days and nights of those times. In this correlation of events and experiences, Sabri Morina has recorded these vicissitudes, which are distinct parts of those years of psychic and physical repression in his life and of the collective where he worked and acted, but also a clear image of Albanian society under the general Serbian repression. In the pages of the book “The Drama of Survival”, real events are elaborated, which we have gone through the whirlwind of those years. In this temporal context, the diary preserves, inserts and events with the most diverse views, which reflect and preserve the authenticity realized in the optics of the most real experience, giving everyday life an objectivity that is as complex as it is determining in what the author of those events experienced.

The periods of the treatability of these events and experiences of Sabri Morina are real and they communicate with factorization in the well-known area called Serbian dictatorship, which operates and hermetically seals progressive ideas and events, especially of the Albanian population in the Yugoslav system (understand more the Serbian ruling system) in Kosovo.

In the book “The Drama of Survival”, by Sabri Morina, the attentive reader comes to know, from the proximity of the events in the collective of the “9 Maji” gymnasium, now “Ismail Qemali” in Kamenica, the highest educational institution at the municipal level. Being always under the supervision of the oppressive political factor and that of the state security. Within these elaborations, the author has described the real situation, which has dominated the most difficult days of this time, as they are presented in his diary. The events have a multi-dimensional chronology, because they are written mainly at the end of a day, preserving every detail of the flow of minutes and hours within a day.

The protagonists mentioned in Sabri Morina's diary are real people, and only a few of them are no longer among us. In some cases, the author has only used the initials of some people with negative attitudes, in the collective where he worked. However, this does not mean that the events have undergone changes, they maintain their authenticity and give the necessary orientation to social development in the Kamenica region and beyond.

New democratic developments in Europe and Kosovo

The political processes since the Miners' Strike and the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 are new sights and determinations on the European political scene. These events articulate the democratic, progressive spirit returning to its origins in Germany, Poland and elsewhere, and the increase in repression in Kosovo, and in the collective where the author of these notes worked.

The Constitutional changes with the political emissaries of that time, in the Kamenica gymnasium, did not receive the violent approval of the amendments that took away (suppressed) the autonomy of Kosovo.

Albanian professors defended their opinion with dignity and achieved almost complete unity, all of them were of one mind that Kosovo was being deprived of its autonomous rights. Then, the Miners' strikes were also manifested in the "9 Maji" gymnasium, by Albanian teachers and with the solidarity of all students, from the end of the second shift until the late hours of the night. Then the pressure and pressures of the municipal authorities of that time, on the teachers for many issues, which sought the resolution of the events in the collective of this hearth of knowledge. Serbian politics, always acted violently with its role in the educational institution, calling it the "University of irredentism" in Kamenica. Understandably, all this anger was against the Albanian cadres, because the success of the students and the educational motivation of the teachers with the growth of Albanian students hindered the current politics of Kamenica and Kosovo.

Likewise, on February 19, 1990, when Albanian students from both shifts organized a visit to pay homage to Islam Morina, who was killed by Serbian police, that day the school was surrounded by Serbian police with weapons and armored vehicles, the only case in Kosovo. Which continued with physical and psychological violence with the arrest of dozens of students and their beating on the street and at the station. This event bears the seal of testimony to how much we had managed to disrupt the work of a dictatorial and occupying system, returning for a moment to the center of attention of the central government! All of these and many, many other events that followed, such as the poisoning of Albanian students in the afternoon shift, were immortalized in Sabri's Diary, of which I am a part, as a witness and active participant in those years of resistance. All of them are real experiences and precisions that communicate the unfolding of the programs of violent Serbian politics, clarifying that this was truly the "Drama of Survival", in which Sabri Morina gives articulation to the permanent extension, so as not to be covered by the dust of oblivion.

Communication with work colleagues and citizens about new democratic trends

Special treatment and distinct emphasis are also given to the events and meetings with high school colleagues, because everyone spoke with a common opinion and meeting point, how to overcome the dictatorship of Serbian politics.

The author has carefully processed and preserved this image, as evidence and factual evidence that the “Drama of Survival” objectively marks this philosophical reality with all those scenes and experiences of those days, which the people of those times carried on their backs. All events in the optics of vision had put the actions of the professors of the Kamenica high school, and every word that was heard and written in the newspaper “Rilindja” through its correspondent in Kamenica, Mr. Daut Maliqi, penetrated the homes of the citizens of this region, because the conscience of the thought of this intellectual layer was published there. The Albanian newspaper “Alternativa”, published in Ljubljana, which represented free speech among the Albanians of that time, was also distributed and read in the high school.

Sabri Morina, in "The Drama of Survival", also presents the solidarity of citizens with the events that unfold one after another.

The will of the people and the objectives of the new democratic processes, necessarily also have the protagonists of that time. These objectives maintained, carried the resistance and increased the will of the people of the broad popular strata. Other events came with other demands, such as: the Blood Reconciliations, to the formation of political parties in Kosovo and in the municipality of Kamenica. All these breaths travel together with the people of that time, as such they provide considerable experience in the chronicle diary of Sabri Morina. The protagonists of this institution carried the actions and messages also with the professor of French language, Nazif Matoshi, one of the protagonists and delegates in the Assembly of Kosovo, of the Declaration of July 2 and September 7, 1990 of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic in the historic Assembly of Kaçanik.

The book, a chronicle of a wild time, preserves and refreshes the memory of a historical period, reflecting events and scenes from the worst that the Serbian dictatorship and politics in Kosovo could have produced, up to the most difficult days of the Kosovo War of 1999.

The author of the book, Sabri Morina, has enriched the fund of memory and the future for the people of this region and beyond, to give life to the new history of Kosovo.

Within the covers of the book, it also reflects many events and scenes that occurred in this time period, which are accurately marked with dates as well as with a gallery of protagonists, who are authentic and interactive in these processes of the most difficult days in the history of this time period. The book “The Drama of Survival” is a special museum of this time period, not only for the citizens of this region, it itself has even wider insights and scope.
