A tough evening for Chelsea in the Champions League, where the team led by Liam Rosenior suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16.
After the match, the Londoners' coach analyzed the situation, being critical but also optimistic about the return match.
"Thank you for the support of the team, for most of the game we were quite good in tactics and performance," Rosenior said to Sky Sports microphones, reports Gazeta Express.
“However, from the 74th minute onwards everything changed. Up until that point we were level and could have scored more goals, but a mistake on the third goal cost us dearly. Then Kvaratskhelia scored a fantastic goal and from that moment on things went backwards for us.”
Rosenior referred in particular to the mistake of goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, who at a critical moment attempted to build play from behind, but his pass was intercepted by the opponent and turned into an assist for PSG's decisive goal.
"You never want misunderstandings like this to happen, but mistakes happen. When you play against teams of this level, you always risk paying for them," the coach added.
Chelsea had two positive reactions in the challenge, tying the score 2‑2 through goals from Malo Gusto and Enzo Fernández, but the French made the most of the final minutes.
"When we were 2-2, we were in a very good position in this match. Then came the moment of the third goal and after it everything changed," Rosenior further emphasized.
However, despite the heavy defeat, the English coach maintained a relatively positive attitude towards the return challenge.
"Overturning is difficult, but not impossible," he said, adding that the team must remain calm and not give up.
He also defended the team and the goalkeeper after the mistake, emphasizing that mistakes are part of football and that the team must learn from them. /Express newspaper
