Peja has achieved an important victory in the play-off phase of the Kosovo Super League in basketball, defeating Ylli with a score of 77:71. However, this matchup did not pass without incidents.
The match, which took place in Suhareka, was interrupted for about an hour after local fans threw objects onto the pitch, forcing the referees to stop the game for safety reasons, Gazeta Express reports.
The chaos didn't end there. On the way to the locker room, Peja's basketball players were attacked by some Yllit fans, further straining the atmosphere of the match.
Despite this, the Peja team remained calm and managed to return to the court with a strong performance, especially in the second quarter, where they scored 29 points, which proved decisive in the end. Despite an attempted comeback by Ylli, Peja ended the game with a 6-point lead.
The incidents that occurred are expected to be reviewed by the Kosovo Basketball Federation, while safety in sports halls returns as an issue of public debate.
