Barcelona are looking to make two big signings this summer, but they need to secure additional funds to do so. The club are hoping to free up some money in their wage bill by offloading the likes of Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Robert Lewandowski, although neither are expected to bring in a huge transfer fee.
A possible source of income could be the sale of Marc Casado. The La Masia academy product has struggled to find space this season and, with Gavi returning to full fitness, he now ranks sixth in the midfield hierarchy, behind Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Marc Bernal and Eric Garcia.
For this reason, Barcelona plan to listen to offers for Casado during the summer transfer window. The board is aware that his value could drop if he stays at the club for longer, and according to reports, the player himself has admitted that his time at the Camp Nou is coming to an end.
Casado no longer sees himself in coach Hansi Flick's plans and, looking for more minutes on the pitch, has decided that leaving is the best option for him. All parties seem to be in agreement, so barring any unexpected changes, he is expected to leave this summer.
At this stage, the most likely destination for the 22-year-old is Saudi Arabia, where several clubs have expressed interest in his services. He has previously attracted attention from Atletico Madrid and Premier League clubs, so it remains to be seen whether there will be any concrete moves from those directions in the coming weeks.
Barcelona would welcome a move to Saudi Arabia, as it would allow them to make the most of his sale. However, it remains to be seen whether the player himself would accept such a move at this stage of his career.
