Eugen Cakolli from KDI was contacted by phone on T7's "Pressing" on Monday.
He said that the Vetëvendosje Movement had filed a complaint with the Constitutional Court when Hashim Thaçi was elected president in 2026.
This was based on the argument that there should have been 120 deputies in the hall, but Cakolli said that the Constitutional Court had overturned this.
He further said that MPs do not do well if they do not stay in the chamber, but this does not create a constitutional vacuum.
But, if a President is not elected by Thursday, he says, the country will go to elections.
"MPs do no good if they do not stand, but it does not create a constitutional vacuum. The court goes a step further, when it rejected this argument it determined that if the decision as such is upheld by a minimum majority then the procedure has been carried out properly. The MPs have been granted a vacant mandate", he said. /Gazeta Express
