Britney Spears' representative has responded to recent reports about a dinner the singer had on May 13 at the Blue Dog Tavern restaurant in Sherman Oaks, California.
According to TMZ, Spears was seen at the restaurant raising her voice, screaming and making unusual noises. The report also included claims from witnesses that the artist had walked past a table with a knife in her hand, raising concerns that she might accidentally hurt someone.
Other sources claimed that the singer had lit a cigarette near the restaurant entrance, fed the person accompanying her and said "I love you," while eating very little herself.
After the claims were published, Spears' representative categorically denied the reports, calling them exaggerated.
"The whole situation has been blown out of proportion. Britney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard. She was simply telling a story about how her dog barked at the neighbors. At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife. She was cutting her burger in half," her rep said.
He added that the way Spears' every move is being handled by the media is reminiscent of the period two decades ago, when the singer was constantly at the center of negative reporting.
"This constant attack on everything she does is exactly what happened 20 years ago, when the media tried to portray Britney as a problematic person. This is ridiculous and needs to stop," he said.
