Famous actress Blake Lively has reacted for the first time after the court dismissed the $400 million defamation and blackmail lawsuit filed by her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni.
In a powerful statement posted on Instagram, the 37-year-old expressed gratitude to the 19 organizations that came together in support of her and women's right to speak out for their safety.
"Like many others, I have felt the pain of a retaliation lawsuit," the actress wrote, adding: "Although the case against me was dismissed, many women do not have the opportunity to defend themselves."
After a turbulent legal year, the "Gossip Girl" star, who has four children with actor Ryan Reynolds, appeared at the Tribeca Artists Dinner in New York City, reflecting calm and determination.
Lively promised to continue to defend women's right to speak, for their dignity and history, while publicly thanking all those who stood by her, friends, followers and organizations.
Blake also published a full list of organizations that legally supported her with amicus briefs, including: California Women's Law Center, Equal Rights Advocates, Her Justice, and the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women.
A spokesperson for the group stressed that these groups have come together to oppose Justin Baldoni's attempt to "destroy a law that protects women who speak out, simply to protect themselves."
