Jeff Bezos reportedly "begged" his partner Lauren Sanchez to show him her wedding dress before the wedding, but she insisted on keeping the surprise until after the vows.
Vogue Italia editor Laura Tortora told People magazine that Sanchez steadfastly refused to say "yes" to the billionaire's request, wanting to preserve a special moment on their day.
The lavish ceremony took place on Friday on the romantic island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, in front of around 200 celebrity guests. The white lace gown with 180 silk buttons, custom-made by Dolce & Gabbana, was only revealed as Lauren walked down the aisle.
She completed the outfit with exquisite jewelry and a symbolic memento from her flight on the Blue Origin rocket. Bezos was very excited about Lauren's look and asked several times to see the dress earlier, but his request was not granted.
"Even though she tried, Lauren didn't break tradition. She wanted to preserve the emotion for an unforgettable moment," she added. The couple's wedding gathered an extraordinary guest list.
