Besnik Berisha has been elected chairman of the Independent Media Commission (IMC).
This was announced by the IMC, saying that Berisha is in his second mandate.

Besnik Berisha elected Chairman of the IMC
After the appointment of new members by the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, the Commission on May 5, 2026, in full composition with members Ms. Drita Morina, Mr. Besnik Berisha, Mr. Hysni Mustafa, Ms. Luljeta Aliu, Ms. Serpin Emruši and Ms. Suada Džogović, held its first meeting for 2026 in the new composition.
According to the legal definition in Article 15, paragraph 1, of the Law on the IMC, the meeting was opened by the oldest member, Ms. Suada Džogović.
At today's meeting of the IMC Commission, members voted to elect the IMC Chair and Vice Chair.
After the voting process, Mr. Besnik Berisha was elected Chairman of the IMC Commission, while Ms. Drita Morina was elected Vice-Chairman. Their mandates are two years, in accordance with the Law on the IMC.
Mr. Besnik Berisha is in his second mandate on the IMC and brings with him considerable professional experience in the field of media and telecommunications regulation.
His long institutional experience is an added value in leading the IMC, in a period that requires increased commitment to media independence and technological developments in this field.
