Karim Benzema has given his first message as an Al Hilal player, clearly emphasizing the ambition to win a second consecutive Saudi Professional League (RSL) title after transferring from Al Ittihad.
The French striker, named RSL Player of the Season, has signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with the current league leader and in his first interview for the club's official channels, stated that his main goal is trophies.
"The message is clear. You know my mentality, I have a lot of ambition. I will work and give everything on the pitch to help the team. For me, trophies are the most important thing," Benzema said.
Al Hilal currently leads the standings after week 20, with one point more than Al Nassr, while they last won the title in the historic 2023/24 season.
Benzema, who won the league and the King's Cup with Al Ittihad last season, expressed his satisfaction with his quick adaptation to the new team. "I have very good feelings. I am happy to be part of this club with a great history. Al Hilal is like the Real Madrid of Asia," he stressed.
During his adventure in Saudi Arabia, Benzema has played 64 matches for RSL, scoring 38 goals, while last season alone he scored 21 goals, ranking third in the race for the 'Golden Boot'.
Al Hilal will return to action on Thursday when they face Al Okhdood, while Benzema has fond memories of this opponent, having scored a hat-trick in their last visit to Najran. /Express newspaper
