Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Artan Behrami has criticized the Special Court for deviating from the mandate it received from the Kosovo Assembly.
He has requested that the president of the court, Ekaterina Trendafilova, be summoned for clarification, and for this he has sought the support of all parliamentary groups.
"The Assembly received a disrespectful and meaningless letter from the president of the special court. This assembly, through a resolution, raised serious concerns about the violation of the rights of the KLA leaders who are being held in The Hague but received a dry response. This is the first communication from this court with us. The Special Court is deviating from the mandate given to it by this Assembly," he said during the session in the Assembly.
Behrami mentioned the statements of Foreign Minister Glauk Konjufca at the Security Council and said that while the minister raised this issue there, MPs should also do so in the Assembly.
"I want to salute the dignified stance of Glauk Konjufce that he took in the Security Council where he requested that this court report to the Assembly that established it. When the minister has raised this issue in the highest instances, the Assembly should not remain silent. Clarifications must be sought and reports to Eulex must be stopped. We must urgently invite Trëndafilova to explain, and why not also the head of Eulex. For this, I seek support from all parliamentary groups."
