The President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, delivered a speech at the Kosovo Assembly at the solemn session marking the 18th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kosovo, Express writes.
Begaj said that this 18th anniversary is the age of maturity and proof that Kosovo is an irreversible reality.
"This is the age of maturity. This anniversary is proof that the Republic of Kosovo is an irreversible reality, a sovereign state. Kosovo is a young state in years, but with deep roots of sacrifices, contributions and merits," Begaj said, Express writes.
Begaj further added that Kosovo is a success story that makes friends and strategic partners proud, especially the US and the international community.
In his speech, Begaj also mentioned former KLA leaders who are facing trial in The Hague. Begaj said that they are facing fabricated charges at the Special Court.
Begaj said that the truth can neither be changed nor alienated.
"On this anniversary, our thoughts are with those who are facing a difficult, unjust and decisive battle in The Hague. The history of Kosovo cannot be understood without the names of Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selim. They are facing fabricated charges in an international court. Those who took up arms to demand freedom for their land and their family are and will always remain symbols of freedom. The truth cannot be alienated or changed. Freedom has a name, freedom deserves justice, it deserves recognition. The Republic of Albania is with the KLA", said Begaj.
