Bayern Munich have rejected the opportunity to sign Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund, paving the way for Milan to be the favourites in the race for his signature.
According to reports from Sky Sport and reported by IlMilanista, the Bavarian club have no interest in the 21-year-old Dane, despite him being offered to them during this transfer window. Bayern consider that their offensive department is complete and do not see the need to bring in another center forward.
This latest development seems to strengthen the position of Milan, who are in the market for a new striker after departures and changes in the advanced department. Initially, it was reported that Højlund was not interested in joining the Rossoneri, but according to recent sources, the player has changed his mind and is open to a move to San Siro.
Milan are aiming to complete a loan deal with an option to buy, while Højlund himself is said to prefer a permanent departure from Old Trafford if he decides to end his Premier League adventure.
However, a possible stay in Manchester is not completely ruled out, especially after the arrival of young Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško, who is expected to increase competition for a starting spot at the "Red Devils".
Højlund, who joined United from Atalanta last summer for around €75m, scored 16 goals in his first season in England but has failed to fully convince the club's management.
