Barcelona secured their 29th La Liga title after a 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Real Madrid on an emotional night for coach Hansi Flick, whose father passed away just hours before the Spanish title was decided in an "El Clásico" for only the second time in history.
Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni retained his place in the squad despite a training clash with teammate Federico Valverde during the week, an incident that led to the Uruguayan being hospitalised with a head injury and both players being fined 500 euros each.
Real Madrid started the match with the intensity of a team that knew it had to win to postpone Barcelona's celebration, but suffered in the ninth minute, when Marcus Rashford scored a superb goal from a free kick in the triangle, bringing his number of goals this season to 14.
In contrast to the perfectly observed minute's silence before the match, the party erupted in full force when Ferran Torres made it 2-0 in the 18th minute, after taking advantage of Dani Olmo's elegant assist and calmly finishing for his 12th goal in the first half of a La Liga match this season.
Real demanded an immediate response and Gonzalo García hit the outside of the net in a one-on-one, while Rashford was then stopped by Thibaut Courtois in another clear-cut opportunity.
Barcelona seemed determined to inflict a heavy defeat on their rivals in the second half as tensions flared between players from both teams, with yellow cards for Raúl Asencio and Dani Olmo.
Courtois then made a brilliant save from Torres, while Madrid's frustration increased when a Jude Bellingham goal was disallowed for offside shortly after the 60th minute.
With 20 minutes remaining, the home fans had already started chanting "Campeones" and applauding every Barcelona pass, while Courtois also made several saves from Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski to avoid a deeper score.
Real Madrid tried to find a goal to dampen the celebration, but failed and suffered a defeat that condemns the club to only the second season without a trophy since 2009/10.
For Barcelona, the celebrations have just begun.
An 11th consecutive league win and an 18th triumph in 18 home matches this season in LaLiga sealed a second consecutive title. Flick's team now have a 14-point lead with three games remaining and could even break their own record for the largest title-winning margin in La Liga history (15 points).
Barcelona has 91 points so far, while Real is second with 77 points./Express newspaper/
