FC Barcelona are expected to be very active during the summer transfer window, especially if they manage to return to the 1:1 financial rule of La Liga. The Catalan club plan to transfer a new central defender and a striker, while a decision must also be made on the future of Marcus Rashford, for whom they have a permanent purchase option from Manchester United.

Barcelona have been pleased with Rashford's contribution since his arrival last summer and have already begun efforts to keep him permanently at the Nou Camp. However, until a deal is finalised, the Catalans are continuing to analyse other options, one of which is FC Köln talent Said El Mala.

El Malah was identified earlier in the season as an alternative to Rashford and according to reports from CaughtOffside, Barcelona remain interested in the 19-year-old, who has impressed in the Bundesliga this season. The Catalan giants have been informed that a transfer could be completed for around €50-60m, an investment that is seen as very promising for the player's future.

However, Barcelona do not seem to be the favourites in the race to sign him. Chelsea FC, Manchester City, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also reported to be interested in the young talent, in addition to Manchester United. Given the financial strength of these clubs, it is more likely that El Mala will end up in the Premier League.

For Barcelona, his transfer would also make sense because Raphinha is approaching 30 years old and a younger alternative on the attacking wing would be useful. However, on the other hand, the final purchase of Rashford for around 30 million euros is also considered a very important option for the Catalans.
