Atletico Madrid are looking to strengthen their midfield again this summer, and sporting director Mateu Alemany could make more than one move in the transfer market.
Los Colchoneros have already reached an agreement for Wolverhampton midfielder Joao Gomes this summer.
Last summer, Alex Baena and Johnny Cardoso joined Metropolitano, but neither had the season they wanted, as injuries limited their impact.
Captain Koke had an important role during the season, while Pablo Barrios also had problems with form and injuries.
In January, Obed Vargas and Rodrigo Mendoza also arrived, but more as investments for the future.
Including Gomes, Atletico currently have around six players for the deep midfield positions, although Vargas and Mendoza could be loaned out this summer.

He scored 7 goals and provided 8 assists in 47 appearances, but only started half of the games, often being used as a substitute by Pep Guardiola towards the end of the season.
However, his statistics remain strong, with almost a goal contribution every two games.
He is seen as having a similar profile to Barrios, with ability in possession, but also with the capacity to break free from pressure and advance with the ball at his feet.
