Arsenal still remain the big favourites to win the Premier League title, despite their defeat to Manchester City.

Stats experts Opta have revised their predictions after City's 2-1 win on Sunday - and it's still positive news for Arsenal fans.

Erling Haaland's goal at the Etihad Stadium narrowed the gap at the top of the table to just three points, with City able to move into first place if they beat Burnley on Wednesday.

Arsenal have lost four of their last six games in all competitions and are struggling at a crucial moment in the season, seeking a first Premier League title in 22 years.

In recent weeks, Mikel Arteta's team has lost the Carabao Cup final to City, been eliminated from the FA Cup by Championship side Southampton and suffered two consecutive defeats in the league.

However, Arsenal still hold a three-point advantage over City and will be looking to return to form when they host Newcastle on Saturday.

Arteta has called for calm after Sunday's defeat, while Opta statistics support his belief that the team can still win the title.

Before the match, Arsenal had an 85.2% chance of winning the title, and after the loss this figure has dropped to only 73%, while City has increased from 14.8% to 27%.

Both teams still have commitments in other competitions: Arsenal face Atlético Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals, while City play Southampton in the FA Cup semi-finals.

According to Opta, Arsenal have a clear advantage due to the lower difficulty of the remaining matches in the league.

Arsenal's last five games are against bottom-of-the-table teams: Newcastle, Fulham, West Ham, Burnley and Crystal Palace.

While City face Everton, Bournemouth, Brentford and Aston Villa, as well as Burnley and Palace.

After the defeat, Arteta said: "I believe today, I believe on Wednesday, and a week ago, because I see them every day and I know the level we have. Today, if they need more conviction, I think they are more convinced now."

He added: "They're talking about it in the dressing room. It's a new league now. We're three points clear and have five games to play. Everything is still open."

On the possibility of the title being decided by goal difference, Arteta said:
"We'll see what happens. It's the Premier League. To win a game in this league is extremely difficult. We'll prepare game after game and learn from what happened today."/Express newspaper/
