Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has been taken to hospital after suffering a worrying injury during the Merseyside derby against Everton on Sunday.
The Georgian goalkeeper was forced off on a stretcher during Liverpool's 2-1 win, adding to the problems for the goalkeeping department, especially as starter Alisson Becker is also currently recovering.
Slot gave an update after the match, saying: "He's gone to the hospital. It looks like it's an open wound. I don't think it's a long-term injury, but we'll see if he's ready next week."

The injury occurred during a tense second-half display, when Beto scored for Everton at a moment when Mamardashvili was hard tackled by defender Andrew Robertson.
He was left in pain and unable to continue the match.
After a few minutes of treatment on the pitch, it was decided to leave on a stretcher, raising concerns about a possible absence at a key moment in the Premier League season.
Despite this situation, Liverpool managed to win in the end with Virgil van Dijk's late goal in extra time.
With Mamardashvili out of the game, Slot was forced to activate third-choice goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, who made his Premier League debut in a big derby.
He appeared calm and contributed to Liverpool maintaining control in the final minutes of the match./Express newspaper/
