Michele Uva, UEFA's executive director for EURO 2032, is confident that Italy will not lose its role as co-host of the tournament, but has warned cities such as Milan and Naples that they could be left out if they do not meet the criteria.

Speaking at an event in Milan, Uva also commented on the statements of UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin, who recently warned that Italy could lose the organization due to poor infrastructure.

"He is right and has sent a clear message. We are working intensively and I am convinced that Italy will organize the European Championship with five stadiums," said Uva.

"There are no delays and we are on schedule. There is no cause for alarm," he added.

He added that eight cities are currently in the running to host the tournament, while by mid-September, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) will select the five stadiums to be submitted to UEFA. The final decision on the host cities is expected in early October.

According to Italian media reports, only Juventus' stadium, the "Allianz Stadium" in Turin, currently meets all the criteria without the need for additional renovations.

Meanwhile, the San Siro in Milan has not passed UEFA's inspection.

Uva clearly warned: "If Milan does not build a new stadium, the tournament will take place without Milan."

He added that Napoli is also in danger.

"If the process slows down and if Milan, like Napoli, does not meet the requirements, they will not be included in the candidacy file," he said.

We recall that the Milan and Inter clubs have recently purchased the "San Siro" area and have presented the project for a new stadium, but the agreement is currently under investigation by Italian authorities./Express newspaper/
